Mandy Jordan – Head of Charity and Volunteering
Mandy was working as a Legal Executive, before escaping to the charity sector following family experience of cancer. Starting at Macmillan Cancer Support, she cut her teeth in local fundraising and then as Area Manager for Norfolk & Suffolk headed up a capital appeal for the new Woolverstone Macmillan Centre at Ipswich Hospital. Following five years at Macmillan, Mandy became Head of Charity & Fundraising at The Ipswich Hospital Charity in September 2016 before taking up the role of Head of Charity and Volunteering at the new partnership charity.
Leading from the front, Mandy has completed a number of challenge events including cycling from London to Paris, skydiving and abseiling. She also took part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge for the Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity in 2018! In her spare time she enjoys cooking, wine, travelling and being with her family. She is also a Member of the Institute of Fundraising and currently sits on the Institute of Fundraising East Anglia Committee and the Association of NHS Charities Member Interest Group.
In her role as Head of Charity, Mandy leads on charity strategy and volunteering, oversees the fundraising and fund expenditure of the Charity and liaises with the Charitable Funds & Sponsorship Committee. Caroline Bates – Head of Fundraising
Caroline has been a fundraiser for over 20 years, working for Help the Aged, Asthma UK, Elizabeth Finn Care and as a volunteer for the Breast Cancer Campaign. She has experience of managing a broad range of fundraising activity including community and events fundraising, direct marketing, trusts, major donors and corporate fundraising. Since joining the NHS in 2010 and developing the Colchester Hospitals Charity brand, she has been responsible for increasing voluntary income from £200,000 to some £1m per annum. Since 2014 her main fundraising focus has been the Cancer Centre Campaign at Colchester Hospital, a capital fundraising appeal which is now nearing its target and is due to open in 2019.
Caroline took up her role as Head of Fundraising for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity in July 2018. Her aim is to develop a sustainable fundraising platform for the new charity and provide opportunities for the many fundraisers who support their hospital with their donations and time.
In her spare time she has completed a MSc Charity Marketing and Fundraising, taken part in the London to Paris cycle ride and in 2018 is walking the 106 mile Suffolk Way in 10 stages!

Penny Norris – Corporate and Trust Manager
Following a career in teaching English and French, Penny has worked in fundraising for 20 years. Having worked for eight different charities she has experience in a wide range of roles. She joined the team in 2016 to work on the Cancer Centre Campaign and the Time Garden Appeal. Since 2018, her new role has been to make grant applications to funding organisations and manage corporate fundraising activity. She enjoys contact with donors and talking to them about how the money they raise boosts and enhances care at our hospitals. Penny says she’s often moved by people’s stories and surprised by their kindness, energy and commitment to raising money. She took part in a charity bike ride in Madagascar and more recently the Colchester Santa Fun Run in the snow. In her spare time she enjoys the Arts, gardening, animals, wildlife and spending time in the countryside with friends.

Angie Tillett – Community and Events Manager (Essex)
Angie has worked in the charity sector for eight years, including jobs at Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion. Her passion is working with volunteers and community organisations, helping them find the best possible way to fundraise for their local hospital. Angie took up her role with Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity in August 2019 and would love to hear from anyone wanting to fundraise for the charity in Essex. Angela is keen on spending time with good friends, long walks in the countryside, local history and music.

Brian Taylor – Community and Events Manager (Suffolk)
Brian has been working in fundraising for the last six years and prior to joining the Colchester &Ipswich Hospitals Charity in 2018 he worked at St Elizabeth Hospice in both the Corporate and Community fundraising teams before moving to the Alzheimer’s Society as Community Fundraising Manager for Norfolk and Suffolk.
Following a long and varied career working in the business and corporate world, Brian brings experience in sales and marketing, project management and people management. Brian is keen on all sports and is an active golfer. He also enjoys live music, plus eating and drinking with friends and family.

Angela Bakun – Supporter Services Fundraising Officer
Angela joined the team in 2017. Angela’s background is in accounts and book-keeping but after personal fundraising decided that the charity sector was the career path for her. Angela says she loves being able to meet supporters to not only help them with fundraising tools, but to learn about the ways and reasons in which they chose to fundraise for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity.
Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs Poppy and Archie at the weekends whether that’s in the garden at the cinema or a trip to the seaside (obviously the dogs don’t go to the cinema!). Angela is also trained dog groomer which she does in her spare time. Angela’s role within the team is to be the key first point of contact for donor and supporter general enquiries to the charity.
