Consultant radiologist Dr Simon Smith, from Ipswich, has had his head shaved in support of Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity.

In January, Simon became unwell and experienced a seizure, which at the time was thought to be from a virus but was later diagnosed at the age of 55 with a brain cancer known as a Glioma*.

Having had such strong connections to the Cancer Wellbeing Centres at Ipswich and Colchester Hospital, he decided to embrace the moment and have a full head shave ahead of his pending surgery on Friday to determine the type of Glioma*.

Simon has been surrounded by friends and family including his wife Louise, and their three daughters Lottie, Ellie and Abbie.

The family have been overwhelmed by the “wonderful support from colleagues” following his diagnosis.

“He has been humbled by the love and support of his family and friends, as well as the exceptional care provided by Ipswich Hospital

They set out to raise £3,500 for the Cancer Wellbeing Fund and have already received an incredible response. If you would like to show your support for Simon and his family please donate at Louise Smith is fundraising for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity (justgiving.com)
