Jimmy Doherty, The Children’s Appeal Ambassador joined fundraising families at Sunday’s Welly Walk, in aid of Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity.

The penultimate walk held at Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park, proved to be a resounding success as participants came together to raise over £2,800 to transform the Children's Department at Ipswich Hospital.

The event, held over the weekend, saw participants of all ages don their wellington boots, with friends and family, taking advantage of the autumn sunshine and making a difference in the lives of young patients.

One of the participants, Mili Benneworth, shared her personal connection to Ipswich Hospital, stating, "Ipswich Hospital is the place where Amélie was born, she spent 3 weeks in Neonatal, and it has been one of our most visited places in 2021 and 2022. Ipswich hospital and the staff have been amazing with Amélie and us during our visits and stays, so we wanted to say thank you by raising as much money as possible to contribute towards the new Children's department."

The Welly Walk aimed to raise funds for the development of a new Children's Department, ensuring the facilities match the outstanding care their young patients already receive.

Cait Pilkington, the charity’s events manager said, "We are extremely grateful to all of the participants and Jimmy for their incredible support as we continue to fundraise the final £22,000 for The Children’s Appeal”

Colchester & Ipswich Charity extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event possible.
