In September 2018 we launched The Eye Appeal to raise £55,000 for a portable, non-invasive imaging machine called an OCT.

An OCT has the potential to detect and diagnose eye diseases earlier and as this model is portable it will be particularly beneficial to patients who cannot access our other equipment. For example children, wheelchair users and those who are bed bound.

We are pleased to announce that following a successful fundraising campaign, the OCT has been delivered and staff are already being trained how to use it.

Head Orthoptist, Dawn Elwell said: “The Eye Department team is thrilled by the arrival of the portable OCT machine. This equipment will make a significant improvement to the care we can offer our patients with special needs. Thank you to everyone who helped us make it happen.”
