The new Children's Outpatients Department at Ipswich Hospital is the first phase of the project and opened to patients in December 2022, made possible thanks to a partnership between NHS funding and The Childrens Appeal, a fundraising appeal organised by Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity.

As work starts on the next phase and redeveloping the ward areas transforming the experience for young patients and their families, the charity continues to raise the final money needed for the project - to provide brand new indoor and outdoor sensory and play spaces and equipment.

“The aim of The Children’s Appeal is to create a modern, calming environment to match the high standards of care our patients already receive. The new-look department will significantly improve the facilities available, and help our staff continue to meet increasing demand for our services while maintaining their focus on delivering a gold standard of care for every single patient.
